About me: Hi I’m James, a software engineer in BoostDraft. Before I joined BoostDraft, I worked as various roles in different companies: Flash engineer, web F2E, Android developer, the most recent one was VR app developer in HTC. I experienced various languages and frameworks via these roles and found that being an engineer is a journey of exploring and learning. It’s always interesting to learn something new, so I would like to try new those things when I have free time.(But sometimes I also need to play games to relax my brain 😃)

How I met BoostDraft: when I was in HTC, one day our CEO Yohei sent me a message to introduce BoostDraft to me. This software was beyond my imagination, I didn't know MS Work could be like that. Then after an interview, I started to work a part-time role for BoostDraft. A few months later, Yohei invited me to join BoostDraft full time. While HTC is comfortable for me, I think there are several reasons (I'll list below) why BoostDraft is more attractive, therefore I decided to join BoostDraft.

The attractions of BoostDraft

• New area to explore: during my part time period, I encountered many C# features I never met, which makes me doubt myself if I know how to use C# lol. In addition to C# feature, I know BoostDraft is using cloud servers for some services. Cloud is also something I want to touch.
• People: people in BoostDraft are kind, talented and knowledgeable. Their code review comments not only ensure code quality but also are informative in many aspects such as C# best practice or code execution efficiency.
• Language: We have people from different countries, so the official language here is English. This is the first time that I would have such an environment for daily work. In addition to English, I also want to have an environment where I may have chances to use Japanese at work.
• Chances to go to Japan: Japan has been an attractive country to me for a long time. I wanted to work in Japan a long time ago and now the chance came.
• The potential: I think BoostDraft targeted a really nice niche market so it can be adopted by many law firms in Japan within just one year. This growth speed is really amazing.
• Remote and flexible working time: this system brings many conveniences which make us use our  time more efficiently.

Other choices?

Around that time I was considering changing jobs, there were 2 more companies that I was considering. One provides a higher salary and another is relatively large and stable. However, after considering the chance to go to Japan, the people (that's the advantage of working part time first) and business potential. I would like to choose BoostDraft.
